THE COKE BOTTLE EFFECT

£3.25

Activity based on the Coke Bottle Analogy.

Description

The Coke bottle analogy helps children understand emotional regulation by comparing their feelings to a shaken fizzy drink. When emotions build up – like shaking the bottle – the pressure increases. If you open it suddenly, it explodes (like an emotional outburst). But if you pause and let the pressure settle, you can open it calmly. This teaches children the value of calming down before reacting.

This resource pack includes an explainer prompt, two pages for recording the ‘triggers’ and a page to identify calming strategies, as well as an example.

Useful for children who demonstrate after school restraint collapse or become emotionally dysregulated. Can be delivered as part of a practical session using a bottle of fizzy drink.
