SUMMARY:BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT IN LITERACY
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed for professionals as well as parents and carers with children that have literacy difficulties. This course will support students with a wide range of literacy problems including dyslexia\, dysgraphia\, ASD and ADHD. \nIt will look at different issues that children may face when learning to read and write\, what to look out for\, the reason behind common issues and how to help the child/children achieve success. The course will also provide a wide range of strategies that can be used in school and home. This course is very hands on and so a camera phone will be useful to take away images of what you have seen and participated in. \nContent-                                                                                                                                                                                                 The process of reading and writing and pinpointing where common issues occur.\nHow working memory plays a large part in reading and writing.\nWhat is phonics? Looking at how words and constructed and deconstructed for spelling.\nHow does a multi-sensory approach help overcome learning problems.\nOvercoming problems with: handwriting\, phonics\, spelling\, ideas\, phonological awareness and confidence. This section looks at the problem\, gives examples of what it looks and feels like\, and strategies to overcome the problem.\nWhat’s next? Looking forward to assessments and learner profiles\, specialist teaching sessions\, support from school. \nParking is free when displaying a note in the window stating ‘With The Contented Child’ \n  \n
